About the Opportunity

Lakshmikumaran and Sridharan attorneys is hiring for the position of Indirect Tax – Litigation – Associate with 0-2 years of experience to join their office in Kolkata. 

Eligibility

• Chartered Accountant (CA) or Lawyer with strong academic credentials.
• 0–2 years’ experience in Indirect Tax, GST, or Customs.

Nature of Work

• Tax Advisory & Compliance:
• Assist in preparing submissions, replies to notices, appeals, and other representations before tax authorities.
• Support senior team members during hearings and appellate proceedings.
• Conduct detailed research and analysis of indirect tax laws and provisions.
• Draft opinions, advisory notes, and compliance reports.
• Client Engagement:
• Prepare PowerPoint presentations for client meetings, training programs, and seminars.
• Analyse client data to assess tax implications of business transactions.
• Develop scenarios to recommend the most tax-efficient business models.
• Contribute to articles, thought pieces, and other knowledge resources.
• Execution & Delivery:
• Identify and proactively discuss technical issues with clients while ensuring compliance with firm risk protocols.
• Manage smaller client accounts with minimal supervision.
• Build strong working relationships with client middle management.
• Business & Commercial Acumen:
• Stay updated on industry trends, competitor activity, and regulatory changes.
• Apply this knowledge to create value-added solutions for clients.
• Networking & Opportunity Identification:
• Recognise potential opportunities with existing clients and share them with senior managers.
• Network internally across teams to understand and address client-impacting issues.
• Maintain and update a legal database, staying informed on latest circulars, notifications, and case laws.
• Mentor and guide junior associates when required.
